B.I.M & Recruit Training
Recruit training is responsible to taking raw recruits and teaching them the basics of what they need to know. From how to wear and iron their uniforms, to map reading, and drill.
The course lasts 3 months with some weekend training as well as parade nights. Once completed cadets have a full pass out parade with parents in attendance and are presented with the First Class Badge (Right).
Your First 4 Weeks
For your first four weeks at the Squadron you take part in the Basic Induction Module (BIM). During these four weeks you are taught: What is expected of you whilst at the squadron, Who is who (The Commanding Officer – CO, Flight In Commands – ICs, Officers and the Adult and Cadet NCOs), How to prepare and wear your uniform correctly, and lastly Drill (Marching). Once you have completed the BIM you pass out into Recruit training proper.
What Next?
Everything else you do in the Air Training Corps has it’s roots in what you are taught in Recruit Training. You will be taught Map Reading, so when you are on your Duke of Edinburgh expeditions you do not get lost. Principles of flight so when you are gliding or flying you know how to control the aircraft. And how to safely handle and shoot a rifle, so you can spend time on the firing range trying to get your marksman badge.

Welcome to the home of everything that is 424 Squadron Air Cadets.
